You know how you have one special pet that is the best pet that you have ever had, well that was Gidget for us and this is her story.
Gidget was born on July 7th 1992 and we purchased her when she was 8 weeks old in Ottawa Ontario. She was such a loving and attentive puppy who was eager to learn everything. |
Biography:
Gidget was a mixed breed. Her mother was a cross between a Toy Poodle and Maltese, her father was a Norwich Terrier. She looked more Terrier as you can see from the photos but if we left her hair grow her hair would split along the back like a maltese and she always had a bit of curl from the Toy Poodle in her but her hair was a wirey like a Terrier.
Gidget for the last 14 years had been a wonderful companion. Great with everyone and a super watch dog. No one ever came near our home without Gidget alerting us that someone was around. She was never a mean dog and never bit anyone. Instead when she greeted anyone all she would do is keep licking them.
I am writing this also for some closure as my wonderful little girl passed away on September 29, 2006. I am hoping that some how we can try and heal as she was the best dog we have ever had. We planted a red maple tree in her honor in our yard and my husband is going to make a plaque for it called GIDGET'S TREE so we will always remember the good times we had with her. |
Likes:
Gidget loved to run around and play at the park and also loved to go for walks. She loved doing tricks for her treats. I think the one thing that she enjoyed the most though was going to Grandma and Grandpa's house. If we asked her if she wanted to come she would make such a fuss and bark all the way to the car. Then she would lay down in the back seat for the short drive but as we turned that final corner she just seemed to know and would start barking and getting so excited and would jump over us to get out of the car to see Grandma and Grandpa!!! She loved going there and loved chasing the chipmunks. She never caught one but she sure loved chasing them. |
Dislikes:
Gidget hated the vaccuum and tried to bite it when we cleaned the house. She also had a fear of Thunderstorms and would shake like crazy when there was one. One other thing that she disliked was having a bath. She would just cringe when she heard the word. Aside from that she didn't have any dislikes. |
Favorite Toy:
Gidget's favorite toy was an old housecoat belt that my son tied up into knots. She just loved to run after it and play tug of war with it. |
Tricks:
Gidget could sit pretty, shake a paw, speak loudly, speak softly, roll over although she would only do it on carpet and always only one way, it is funny because she would never roll the other way, she would come when she was called and would always stay by my side. |
